WESTERN RIDING

Gilwaun Ranch is located 4 miles from Alford, east of the Cairngorms National park. We have some of the best riding country Scotland.

Western riding is becoming one of the fastest growing sports in the UK. There are several different disciplines within the style.

In the UK there are western shows and classes for Quarter horses, Appaloosas and any other western trained horses. We can introduce you to western disciplines such as Pleasure, Trail and Reining.

Our Western training techniques can be used to train, resolve schooling and behavioural issues. (No matter what your chosen discipline all be it English or Western) We teach so you and your horse will gain some new tools to communicate.

This clinic is for anyone who is interested in western riding and training, weather you ride English or Western This clinic is starting at the begining and finishing at the start!! , suitable for young horses and old timers with trust issues. and ofcourse those who appear to have bad manners!

 Our aim is not only to teach you the skills from ground work to specific disciplines, but to help you to train your own horse.

 WE OFFER TRAINING DAYS WHICH COVER HANDLING YOUNGSTOCK RIGHT THROUGH TO DEALING WITH BEHAVIOURAL ISSUES IN OLDER HORSES.

 WE CAN ACCEPT RIDERS WISHING TO BRING THEIR OWN HORSES FOR TRAIL RIDING OR TRAINING WEEKENDS.

We regret at this moment in time we have to implement a maximum weight limit of 14 stone for the trail ride and lessons.

May it be noted that riders for the trail need to be able to ride all three paces(walk trot and canter).
